Getting your period while you are enjoying your vacation or work trip is an absolute buzzkill. We totally get it.
Things go downhill from then on when you start experiencing period cramps.
Periods are mostly unavoidable but you can avoid all the hassles during travel with proper planning and preparation.
We are here to help you with some tips.
When you are aware of your impending dates during vacation, it is better to plan everything in advance.
You need to consider almost everything beforehand- from the type of food you will be eating to the facilities in the hotel you will be staying in, and the activities you will be engaging in.
Having everything in place will make your vacation relatively stress-free.
Pack period travel essentials
This is a no-brainer but keeping period care essentials handy is a must. Do not wait for the date to arrive to buy the essentials from nearby stores.
Avoid last-minute stress by stacking up on sanitary products. Carrying some extra pads and panty liners doesn’t hurt either.
Additionally, you won’t regret packing a heating pad and painkillers with you to deal with cramps.
Pack appropriate clothes
It is important to be cautious about the garments you wear, especially if you are experiencing period bloating and/or stomach cramps.
Remember, that your journey would be more exciting and enjoyable if you prioritize comfort.
Forget those skinny jeans and bodycon dresses and opt for breezy clothes that won’t put much pressure on your stomach.
Similarly carry comfortable underwear – preferably dark-colored ones.
Instead of hoarding chocolates and junk foods, keep fruits, nuts, and healthy snacks that will make you feel lighter.
Similarly, it is better to try those dishes that you are comfortable with or familiar with instead of trying new ones.
Avoid consuming alcohol. Hydrating yourself constantly will help keep cramps under control. Additionally, drinking glucose water will make you feel energized while on periods.
Take bathroom breaks whenever you can
Keep a lookout for bathrooms nearby while sightseeing.
Regularly changing pads lowers your chance of leakage and keeps you active.
Even while walking or hiking, take breaks frequently so that you can continue walking for extended periods.
It is also better to carry a trash bag to dispose of used sanitary products. You may not always find a bathroom with disposable options.
